I grew up in the shadows of Chicago, in Hammond, Indiana, to be exact, where all the hillbillies came up to work the steel mills, train shops and chemical factories.  I absolutely despised going to school.  I preferred playing behind my house on the railroad property with all of the grasshoppers and garden spiders and milk pods, and often fooled my mom into letting me miss school, so I could go out and play.  I came from a problem family and turned to hallucinogenic drugs in my teen years.  I still love hallucinogenic substances, though I had to give them up by the 1980s, when I began attending Purdue University classes.
